Customer Service Training in Nottingham
Our Customer Service pre-employment training course is designed for those who are looking to kickstart a career within customer services in retail and other industries.
The course covers multiple aspects of customer service, as well as introducing essential digital and IT skills. Each learner also receives additional support from one of our dedicated Career Support Advisors to help them secure employment once they’ve completed their training.
One learner who recently completed the programme is Odila from Nottingham, who took the time to leave us her feedback about her experience on the programme.
Odila's story
Having previously completed her A Levels, Odila had found it difficult to secure full-time employment and lacked the confidence needed to thrive when it came to interview situations.
She arrived on our pre-employment Customer Service training course to gain the skills needed to perform at a high level in customer-focused roles, and had ambitions of kickstarting a career in this field.
After completing the course, she told us how her confidence has grown not just in herself, but in her capabilities to deliver excellent customer service.
The resilience to successfully further my skills and knowledge has shown me that by applying myself, I can positively transform my life. I believe this has prepared me to secure and remain in work because I know that by being employed, I’m not only investing in my local community, but also in myself.
I am really happy to have completed the course and I am excited to see what other transformations/developments await.
Transferable skills gained
Odila revealed that as part of the training she received, she was able to gain some valuable, transferable skills that will help set her up for future roles. She also acknowledged what she identified as one of her biggest barriers to securing a role in the past – speaking in front of others – and descibed how the course helped her to overcome this.
Prior to the course, my biggest hurdle was public speaking. However, throughout the course, my tutor provided many opportunities for us to present our ideas, have team discussions and contribute to the overall programme. The course also taught me valuable transferable skills such as accurate time managing skills by completing assigned tasks before the deadline.
I also increased my speaking confidence by actively engaging in group discussions and course Q&A’s. This has allowed me to meet task deadlines in my new role, answer customer questions and streamline the customer experience at work.
The valuable transferable skills I acquired have also helped to enhance my connection with staff, engage with more customers and solve daily problems to the best of my ability.

Odila also spoke very highly of the support she received from her tutor throughout the course, and revealed that she has since secured a new full-time role working in retail thanks to the support of her Career Support Advisor.
