Our Networking & Cybersecurity course is designed to help you develop and extend your digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in network support and digital design.
As part of the course, you’ll complete an Ethical Hacking & Project Management unit, along with units in network management, threats and vulnerabilities that relate directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers.
The course is delivered over in a virtual classroom, so you will need access to a laptop/computer with an internet connection to complete the course.
On completion of the course, you’ll receive an industry-recognised Level 3 qualification in Networking & Cybersecurity.
On the Networking & Cybersecurity course, you’ll complete the following key units:
This unit is designed to help you understand project management concepts, the role of ethical hacking in testing the security of networks and how to apply project management techniques to an ethical hacking project to identify vulnerabilities.
This unit will cover the purpose and methods of controlling access to systems. You will learn about the concepts of identity, authentication and authorisation, and explore how they are used to manage access control in organisations.
In this unit, you’ll learn the basics of data communication, transmission methods and protocols that enable connectivity and transmission of data, including signal theory. You will learn why particular transmission methods are chosen for different situations and be able to compare the effectiveness of these different methods. You will also be able to apply knowledge and understanding by connecting communication devices between users.
This unit will provide you with an understanding of network management functions and the tools and technologies required to manage networks. You will also develop skills in interrogating a network to identity network assets and configure and carry out routine network management activities.
In this unit, you will learn about the types and sources of network attacks and develop the skills and understanding needed to plan and protect a network. You will also learn how to configure devices and software to improve network security.
